3 Original Vintage Theatrical 7" x 9 1/4" [18 x 23 cm] Movie Stills (Learn More)

Kathleen Burke was an actress during the 1930s. She was an 18 year old dental assistant in Chicago (and a part-time fashion model, who had also done some radio and stage acting) and was one of 60,000 women who submitted her photograph for a contest Paramount Pictures held for the role of "The Panther Woman" in Island of Lost Souls in 1932. But her exotic looks made her hard to cast, and she never really had much success (her best roles were in The Lives of a Bengal Lancer with Gary Cooper, and The Last Outpost with Cary Grant, both in 1935) and in 1938, at the age of 25, she married for the third time and had a child and retired! She passed away in 1980 at the age of 66.
Important Added Info: Note that this set of stills (and a number of others) come from a recently discovered collection of mostly 1930s stills (but with some from the 1920s, and some from the 1940s and 1950s) that came from the estate of a longtime journalist who wrote about these movies and visited the sets of many movies and were given these stills at that time. They are all rare original stills from the first release of the movies, and some have cool candid images. This is an opportunity to acquire extremely rare stills, including some from movies you almost never see anything from! Also note that we are also currently auctioning a number of single stills from this same collection, all in individual auctions.

Condition: good to very good. The stills have slightly unevenly changed to a sepia color (see our images).
