Date Sold 11/26/2020 Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. 2 Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Stills (Learn More) Speakeasy, the 1929 Benjamin Stoloff romantic boxing Prohibition era melodrama ("New York City talks"; "100% Dialogue Fox Movietone Melodrama"; despite its name, this movie is much more of a boxing movie than a Prohibition era movie; the plot concerns a boxer who loses his title, and he starts hanging out in a speakeasy, and then a pretty young newspaper reporter meets him, and discovers that his crooked manager caused him to lose the title, and with her help, he gets a rematch, and regains the middleweight championship belt) starring Paul Page, Lola Lane, Henry B. Walthall, Helen Ware, Sharon Lynn, Warren Hymer, and John Wayne (only 22 years old, in a bit part). Note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. Important Added Info: Note that this group of stills come from a wonderful group of just-discovered stills that are from 1927 to 1929, with the majority from 1928 exactly. In addition to including a LOT of previously unseen stills (and some times from incredibly rare titles!), most of the stills have either snipes on the bottom or back, and many have some pencil writing on the back about the movie or actors. There are 72 groups of stills in this set of auctions, each in its own auction. The remaining single stills from this collection will be auctioned starting November 26th, after these stills end. After that, there will be no more stills from this wonderful collection! Also, note that we normally only photograph the front of groups of stills, but because so many of these had snipes or information on the back, we also pictured the backs of each!
