An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Chapter #5 ("The Telephone Cipher") One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Shadow of the Eagle, the 1932 B. Reeves Eason & Ford Beebe circus carnival crime murder mystery thriller serial ("A Stupendous Carnival Serial in Twelve Thrilling Chapters"; "With the greatest cast ever assembled for any serial") starring John Wayne, Dorothy Gulliver, Kenneth Harlan, Walter Miller, Roy D'arcy, Richard Tucker, Pat O'Malley, 'Little Billy' Rhodes, Ivan Linow (as the strongman), and Yakima Canutt NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this movie has always been the most elusive of all John Wayne western titles! Other than the single poster offered here, I know of no other original 1932 poster from this serial (and I have checked with major long-time John Wayne collectors, and have found none who have ever seen another orginal poster from this title)! Also note that this movie contained a character who was a ventriloquist, and another character who was a midget, and this poster shows the ventriloquist, his dummy, and the midget (all the main characters from the movie)! Finally, note that this poster has been kraftbacked, which means it was backed onto a brown paper soon after it was printed (this process is called "kraft-backing", and posters with it are called "kraft-backed"). One could have it professionally removed from the kraft paper and linenbacked, and it would look great! Condition: very good. It appears the kraft-backing helped preserve the poster! There are tiny holes at the bottom crossfolds and there was small separation at each crossfold (There is a piece of clear tape on the back of each crossfold); There is 1" of separation at the right of the bottom crossfold (repaired with clear tape on the back). There are a large number of pinholes around the edges of the poster in the blank borders and around fifteen tiny pinholes scattered around the edges of the image. There are creases and a few tiny areas of surface paper loss on the foldlines. The poster is in better condition than the above makes it sound! Its defects are somewhat minor (mostly in the borders) and are the sort that respond well to restoration. After linenbacking by a talented professional, the poster would look great, and it would have little paint restoration anywhere on it! Learn More about condition grades
