And now Alec Guinness as 'The Man in the White Suit'"; "Ealing Studios present another comedy"; about a man who invents fabric that never gets dirty or wears out, and how the garment industry tries to suppress it) starring Alec Guinness ("Britain's Top Comedian will have you in stitches"), Joan Greenwood, Cecil Parker, Michael Gough, and Ernest Thesiger

Important Added Info: Note that the first release English one-sheet from this movie is beyond rare (we have seen the image, but we have never auctioned it, and it almost never is offered for sale). This early re-release is also incredibly rare, and it is a "country of origin" poster for this English movie, and we have never auctioned it before either! How do we know it is a re-release? It looks incredibly similar to the first release. But differences in the distributor logo at bottom left and the printing at the bottom tells us (and we have had it confirmed by experts) that this poster is from when the movie was re-released between 1955 and 1957. We previously have auctioned a similar poster for "The Third Man", another great English classic. It seems likely that these movies (along with the other great English post-war movies) were all re-released in the time frame beginning in 1955, and continuing for the next two years. This is an incredibly rare poster, and once it is restored (see below), it will look incredible on the new owner's wall!

Condition: good. There is a 7" tear in the right of the bottom border that extends into the "U" of "SUIT". There are extra creases to the left and right of the top and bottom of the vertical fold, with a 1" tear in the background below the "TE" of "WHITE" and a matching tear in the top center of the image, extending into the edge of Guinness' ear. There is ink transfer in parts of Guinness' white suit, caused by the poster being folded. There are some stains in the red background to the left of the first "THE" in the title, and there are tiny tears in the left of the top and bottom horizontal folds. There are some pinholes and small tears in the borders. Obviously, this wonderful poster can be backed and restored by a talented restorer, and after proper restoration, it will look fantastic!
