A Set of 8 REPRODUCTION English Front of House Movie Lobby Cards (FOH LCs; 8x10; measure 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm]) (Learn More) Black Narcissus, the 1947 Michael Powell & Emeric Pressburger English religious Catholic relationship melodrama ("A story to storm your heart!"; "Drama at the top of the world... where the winds of the exotic past sweep men and women to a strange and fascinating adventure..."; "Adapted from the novel by Rumer Godden"; "Written Produced and Directed by Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger"; about nuns setting up convent in the Himalayas) starring Deborah Kerr (billed on English posters as "[By arrangement with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer]"; billed on U.S. posters as "M.G.M. star of 'Hucksters' fame"), Sabu, David Farrar, Flora Robson, Esmond Knight, Jean Simmons, and Kathleen Byron. Note that this movie included some partially built sets that were completed through the judicious use of a matte painting, and the famous "cliff scene" was also filmed with the use of a matte painting! Important Added Info: Note that at some point in the past ten to twenty years, some major English collector had reproductions made of sets of English front of house lobby cards. We have never auctioned any of these before, and we suspect that only a limited amount were made, but we really don't know. From the front, they look very much like original front of house lobby sets, but they are printed on a pure white paper, and when you turn them over, it is very obvious that they are reproductions, because of the white backs. We are auctioning these so that collectors who could never find (or possibly afford) the original sets can purchase these exact reproductions, but obviously, we don't want anyone who buys them from us to try to resell them as originals (but as we say, that is unlikely, because of the pure white backs). We only have one of each set, and we are offering 22 different REPRODUCTION sets, in 22 different auctions. Condition: very good to fine.
