An Original Vintage Theatrical Chapter #9 (Desperate Chances) Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) The King of the Kongo, the 1929 Richard Thorpe Africa action adventure romantic jungle serial ("A Wild Animal Serial in Ten Thrilling Chapters") starring Jacqueline Logan, Walter Miller, Richard Tucker, Boris Karloff, Larry Steers, and Joe Bonomo (famous early strongman, as the gorilla, and he also played one of the gorillas in 1932's "Murders in the Rue Morgue"!). Note that while this movie was released in a silent version, it also had a "part talking" version, which made this the first sound serial! Also note that Boris Karloff did not receive billing on the posters for this serial! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that there is a stamp on the back that reads "FROM THE COLLECTION OF Michael R. Hawks", who most would consider the premier lobby card collector and expert in the world (and he is still an active collector, looking for the last few items he needs!). Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: good to very good. The card has a tear, creases, and smudges in the top right that affect the bottom of the "g" of "Kongo" and the right edge of the Mascot logo. There is darkening in part of the top blank border and pinholes around the edges.
