Note that MGM was worried about how well this movie would do at the box office, and they did something we don't remember seeing on any other major movie advertising! One of the taglines says "Biggest sensation since Snow White", which means MGM was advertising a Walt Disney movie, but that shows just how worried they were! Of course, they needn't have worried, because this was a timeless classic that has only improved with age. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that original 1939 Wizard of Oz lobby cards were printed with a red color in the border background area and in the bottom studio credit that fades extremely easily. A high percentage of the cards that exist have either a pink color in those areas, and other cards have orange in those areas. This card has the red that the card was originally printed with, which is a big plus! Condition: very good. The card was "starch backed", which means that it was moistened with a special starch solution, attached to a backing, allowed to dry, and then the card had touch up while it was backed, and afterward, the backing was removed. This particular card had pinholes and smudges around the edges, but virtually no other defects within the image. The card was starch backed by a talented professional and expert restoration was performed to the above defects. The card looks fantastic, and it has had truly minor touch up, and best of all, it still completely looks and feels like an unrestored lobby card! Learn More about condition grades
