An Original Vintage Comic Book (measures 7 1/4" x 10 1/4" [18 x 26 cm]) (Learn More)

Impact was a short-lived comic book series in 1955 as the first title in its New Direction line. This comic was published by Bill Gaines (William Gaines) through his company, EC Comics (E.C. Comics), which he inherited from his father in 1947. It ran for five issues, ending with the December 1955 issue. The sub-title "Tales Designed to Carry an" ran above the title Impact. This was one of many EC comic titles published by Bill Gaines (later publisher of Mad Magazine). Since the ending of publication, all of the EC comics have been reprinted many, many times, in many formats, and there have been several movies and TV series based on them!
Artist: Jack Davis (cover), Bernard Krigstein ("Master Race" story)
Important Added Info: Contents: Charlton-printed variant with white title logo and inferior print quality. "Tough Cop" (script by Carl Wessler; art by Reed Crandall), "The Diamond Pendant" (script by Wessler; art by Graham Ingels; based on a story by Guy de Maupassant), "The Dress" (art by George Evans), and the classic story "Master Race" (script probably by Al Feldstein, art by Bernard Krigstein). Jack Davis cover (Illustrating "Master Race"). Cover price $0.10. Note that "Master Race" was somewhat written by Al Feldstein, and was assigned to Bernard Krigstein as a six-page story. Krigstein saw that this was an incredibly important story and cut up the panels that Feldstein had laid out and expanded it to eight pages, and it is the first real comic book story to deal with the Holocaust in a meaningful way, and many people think it is among the most significant comic book stories ever created!

Condition: fair to good. Note that this comic book will be sent to the winning bidder in a brand new Mylite4 protective sleeve and a full-back 100% acid-free backing board.
