An Original Vintage Theatrical Autographed 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Anna May Wong was a Chinese-American actress from the 1910s to the 1960s. Some of her movies include: Shanghai Express, Thief of Bagdad, Impact, Across to Singapore, and Piccadilly. Unfortunately, due to the prejudices of the time, the studios cast white actresses over her, even in Asian roles, having the white actresses perform in "yellowface", which meant that Miss Wong would almost always play a friend or enemy of the white actress in the lead Asian role! She passed away in 1961 at the age of 56. Important Added Info: Note that this still has been personally autographed (signed) by Anna May Wong (she also signed her name in Chinese above her regular signature)! Our consignor is a longtime dealer who acquired this signed item among many other purchases in his inventory, and he does not have a certificate of authenticity, but we believe the signature to likely be authentic.
