A 1956 Re-Release Theatrical Paperbacked Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein (released in other English-speaking countries as "Abbott and Costello Meet the Ghosts"), the 1948 Charles T. Barton monster horror spoof comedy ("It's a grand New idea for Fun!"; the eighth Universal Frankenstein movie, and this time they added their #1 comedy team to both liven up the series, and to inject comedy; many people fondly remember this as their favorite of the 1940s Frankenstein movies!; "Jeepers! The Creepers are after Bud and Lou!"; "The laughs are MONSTERous! Bud and Lou are in a stew when they tangle with the Titans of Terror!"; "The monsters of menace vs the masters of Mirth!") starring Bud Abbott, Lou Costello (Abbott and Costello), Lon Chaney Jr. ("The Wolf Man played by Lon Chaney"), Bela Lugosi (returning as Dracula after being long absent from the role; "Dracula played by Bela Lugosi"), Glenn Strange (in the title role, playing the Frankenstein monster; "The Monster played by Glenn Strange"), Lenore Aubert, Jane Randolph, Frank Ferguson, Charles Bradstreet, and Vincent Price (in a cute cameo, as the voice of The Invisible Man at the end of the movie!) NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster has a completely different image to that of the first release poster! Also note that this classic and much loved horror movie was given a quick re-release in 1956. Best of all, many of the 1956 re-release posters have significantly better images than the 1948 first release ones! This is especially true with this half-sheet, which has large artwork images of the monsters (there were small photographic images on the 1948 half-sheet). Many collectors value this poster more highly than the 1948 half-sheet. Note that this poster has been paperbacked. What is paperbacking? This means the poster was backed onto a paper backing (acid-free), that is similar in feel to that of the original poster (except somewhat heavier). It is a similar process to linenbacking, except that most collectors use linenbacking for one-sheets and paperbacking for half-sheets, inserts, window cards, and lobby cards. Note that because this poster was paperbacked onto a somewhat thicker paper backing, it CAN'T be sent rolled (someone could conceivably roll it or try to do so, but we think it would surely damage it, so we will only send it in a large flat package, unless the buyer insists, and then they would be responsible for any damage). It will need to be sent in a large flat package which measures approximately 24" x 30", so bear this shipping cost in mind before placing a bid on this poster. What IS paperbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. Prior to paperbacking, the poster was folded down the middle only. It had some tiny creases and fine surface paper loss on that fold. It had some pinholes, smudges, and tiny paper loss around the edges. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to paperbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well! Learn More about condition grades
