A 1956 Re-Release Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Insert Movie Poster (measures 14" x 36") (Learn More) Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein (released in other English-speaking countries as "Abbott and Costello Meet the Ghosts"), the 1948 Charles T. Barton monster horror spoof comedy ("It's a grand New idea for Fun!"; the eighth Universal Frankenstein movie, and this time they added their #1 comedy team to both liven up the series, and to inject comedy; many people fondly remember this as their favorite of the 1940s Frankenstein movies!; "Jeepers! The Creepers are after Bud and Lou!"; "The laughs are MONSTERous! Bud and Lou are in a stew when they tangle with the Titans of Terror!"; "The monsters of menace vs the masters of Mirth!") starring Bud Abbott, Lou Costello (Abbott and Costello), Lon Chaney Jr. ("The Wolf Man played by Lon Chaney"), Bela Lugosi (returning as Dracula after being long absent from the role; "Dracula played by Bela Lugosi"), Glenn Strange (in the title role, playing the Frankenstein monster; "The Monster played by Glenn Strange"), Lenore Aubert, Jane Randolph, Frank Ferguson, Charles Bradstreet, and Vincent Price (in a cute cameo, as the voice of The Invisible Man at the end of the movie!) NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster has never been machine folded! Most insert posters were folded twice horizontally right off of the printing press. It is very difficult to find an unfolded example of most inserts, especially from before 1970! Condition: fair. The poster was never folded. It appears to be somewhat faded. It was almost completely separated in an uneven tear that runs in the green background above the credits and stops in the white background by the house. There are creases across the remainder of that area, but the paper is not torn. The entire poster has darkened and has scattered discoloration from water staining, more so around the edges. There are some tape repairs on the back of the tear described above, and a few small tape repairs on the back of the borders. There was paper tape on the back of both bottom corners, and someone roughly removed it causing surface paper loss on the back of both corners, and some small paper loss in the bottom left corner. There are two pieces of paper tape on the back of the top center of the poster that were not put there for a restoration purpose. There is clear tape on the front of three borders and the center of the top and bottom border. Obviously, this poster has very significant defects, but it is also true that this is the sort of poster that responds well to expert restoration. It is quite likely that some or most of the water staining and darkening can be greatly reduced through chemical means, and after proper restoration of the above defects (which other than the darkening and water staining are primarily in the borders and background areas), the poster will look great, and it will likely not have a lot of paint restoration in the image, unless the new owner wants to "punch up" the red colors that have faded, although that is the choice of the person who has the restoration performed (I could imagine this poster resurfacing in another auction with a restored grade of "very good to fine"!). Please do not bid on this poster unless you can accept its significant defects, and have carefully studied our super-sized image. Learn More about condition grades
