Date Sold 3/17/2024 Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. a lot of 11 8x10 stills from Catherine Deneuve movies. Catherine Deneuve was born in France in 1943. Was there ever a more beautiful woman? She started as a teen actress, but her big break came in the female lead role in The Umbrellas of Cherbourg, the Jacques Demy operetta-like movie (where all the dialog is sung!) about the doomed romance of two young lovers. The following year she starred as a schizophrenic killer in Roman Polanski's Repulsion, and two years later she had her most memorable role in Luis Bunuel's Belle De Jour, where she played a housewife who moonlighted as a part-time prostitute! She wrapped up a string of amazingly good 1960s movies with Mississippi Mermaid for Francois Truffaut in 1969. She has never stopped working, and she has made an astonishing 107 movies to date, and she is still quite beautiful! Some of her other movies include: Dancer in the Dark, Persepolis, 8 Femmes, and Indochine (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film). As of 2021, she is still alive at the age of 77! Note that the items in this lot are mostly from the 1960s to the 1970s. We do not provide a list of these items, but there are images of all of them. Note that this group of stills was consigned to us from the family of Ken Jones, who was an author of books about movies (including books about character actors and western stars). In the course of researching his books, he purchased large numbers of stills on actors he was writing about, and these are some from his collection (and all have information about the actors written in pencil on the back by Mr. Jones himself!).
