She is best remembered for starring in Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds and Marnie. She is also the mother of actress Melanie Griffith. In 1971, she was making a movie that involved a lion, and she learned of their poor treatment, which began her devotion to wild animals. In 1981, she spent $17 million to film the movie "Roar", about the treatment of big cats, and it only took in $2 million at the box office. She has devoted all the years since to helping wild animals. As of 2022, she is still alive at the age of 92! During that time, he would regularly purchase collections of movie memorabilia from both dealers and collectors, and in some of those collections he purchased autographed items, and over the years he did not re-sell any of the autographed items.
