An Undated (probably 1930s) Re-release Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Mixing in Mexico, the 1925 Charles R. Bowers & Bud Fisher silent family animated cartoon short (based on the Bud Fisher comic strip, 'Mutt & Jeff'; in this entry, the pals travel to Mexico and end up in a bullfighting ring dodging an angry bull). Note that Mutt and Jeff (a pair of loser best friends, one tall and one short) was one of the most popular newspaper cartoon strips ever, beginning in 1908, and they were brought to the movies in 1911, and over the next 15 years, Bud Fisher created an astonishing 347 cartoons starring the duo. Note that Bud Fisher was one of the rare successful creators who was also an excellent business man, and he gained control of the newspaper strip, and when the first cartoons were adapted in 1911, he retained sole ownership of those as well, and his various enterprises made him an extremely wealthy man! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that first release one-sheets from Mutt & Jeff cartoons of the 1910s and 1920s are incredibly rare, and only a few are known to exist. Apparently, a company called "Screen Attractions Corporation" decided to re-release some of these with added "symphonic music" and added "natural color" (this would have surely been in the very late 1920s or in the very early 1930s, likely after the great success of the early Mickey Mouse cartoons). Offered here is a one-sheet from the re-released and improved "Mixing in Mexico", with wonderful art of Mutt & Jeff. It is possible that this poster was created with different titles, but we have never seen another such one-sheet, and we have never auctioned this poster before! Condition: very good. The poster was folded in half an extra time. There is tiny separation and the tiniest of paper loss at some of the crossfolds, and small separation at the top of two of the vertical folds. There is a faint brown stain at the bottom of the "U" of "NATURAL" and entering into the first "O" of "COLOR". Otherwise, the poster is in nice condition and can be displayed and enjoyed as it is, or after a simple linenbacking, it will look fantastic! Learn More about condition grades
