Date Sold 10/24/2024Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Insert Movie Poster (measures 13 1/2" x 35 3/4" [34 x 91 cm]) (Learn More) House of Frankenstein, the 1944 Erle C. Kenton Universal monster horror thriller ("All together...!"; "Frankenstein's Monster! The Wolf Man! Dracula! The Hunchback! The Mad Doctor!"; "Based on a Story by Curt Siodmak"; the sixth Universal Frankenstein movie, and this was the first "all-star" movie, with all of its best monsters brought together in a single movie!) starring Boris Karloff, Lon Chaney Jr. (as Lawrence Talbot, the Wolfman), John Carradine (as Dracula), J. Carroll Naish (as Daniel, the hunchback), Anne Gwynne, Peter Coe, Elena Verdugo, Lionel Atwill (Atwill must have had a terrible agent that he ended up behind Peter Coe, and Elena Verdugo in the billing!), Michael Mark, Frank Reicher, Charles Wagenheim, William Edmunds, Belle Mitchell, Sig Ruman, and Glenn Strange (as "Frankenstein's monster"). At least Atwill did better than poor Glenn Strange, who played the Frankenstein monster, and didn't even receive billing! Also, is it just me, or is it the height of insensitivity that a "hunchback" was treated as a monster on a par with Frankenstein, Dracula, and The Wolf Man? Also, why in the world did Glenn Strange not get billing on the posters? NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned three examples of this insert, and only one in the last 14 years, which sold for $5,850! Also note that this poster has been trimmed on parts of its blank borders only, and it now measures 13 1/2" x 35 3/4" [34 x 91 cm]. Note that this poster was folded at one time but because it has been laying flat for a long time our intention is to send it rolled in a tube. However, because we are certain it would not harm it to re-fold it (because the folds are still there and have not diminished), we can also re-fold it if the buyer needs it to be shipped with folded items. Condition: good. Someone long ago slightly trimmed each of the blank borders, but only a tiny amount of white paper from each side. There are two partial extra folds 1/2" above and below the regular middle fold, with a vertical tear and tiny surface paper loss to the left of the monster's chest at center, and scuffs in his body. There is tiny surface paper loss in the top fold and surface paper loss in the right of the bottom fold. There are two tiny brown dots in two letters of the title. There were some tears in the borders and someone put paper tape on the back of those. Certainly, this rare and desirable poster can be restored, but please look at our super-sized image and read the above before placing a bid. Learn More about condition grades
