The Desperate Hours, the 1955 William Wyler crime hostage thriller ("Adapted from the novel and play by Joseph Hayes"; based on a real-life story of a family taken hostage in their own home by escaped convicts; the person whose life this was based on sued for invasion of privacy, but he was ruled a "public figure" by the Supreme Court, and this was the first such case, and now means that public figures have no ability to restrict invasion into their privacy!) starring Humphrey Bogart, Fredric March, Arthur Kennedy, Martha Scott, Dewey Martin, Gig Young, Mary Murphy, and Richard Eyer. An interesting piece of trivia is that the lawyer who defended the real life family in the Supreme Court case to try to preserve their right to privacy was Richard Nixon, later President of the United States!
