If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster was issued in two different ways in 1977. One poster was a regular teaser poster, with a black background and grey text and borders. The other looks exactly the same, except the "W" in "Star Wars" has points at the bottom, which is only seen in very early promotional material, and the poster was printed on a foil coated paper with the black printed over the foil! While both posters are very desired by Star Wars collectors, the foil version is more desirable, and it is very difficult to find in even fairly good condition (because the foil scuffs so easily). This auction is for the black style version. Note that this special "all Star Wars" auction began with a phone call from a VERY long time collector of Star Wars posters! He told us that he had reached a point in his life where he was wanting to sell his collection, and he asked if we could do it all at one time. Because he had 174 posters (including many of the most rare and desirable ones), we were happy to comply, but we told him that we would like to also add additional rare Star Wars posters from other collectors, and he agreed, and after we were consigned an additional 117 posters and related items, we have our auction! We asked the person who assembled the amazing collection of 174 posters in this auction to share with us a written history of how he came to assemble this amazing collection, and if you CLICK HERE, you will be taken to a separate page that shows you what he wrote for us! Condition: good to very good. Prior to gelbacking, the poster had many light creases and scuffs scattered throughout, which is very common with examples of this poster, due to the solid black and silver printing, which scuffs extremely easily. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to restoration. A talented restorer gel backed the poster (meaning they backed the poster onto a gel material) and during the process of backing it, the creases and scuffs became much less noticeable, and then they removed the gel backing, so that the poster still exactly looks and feels like an original poster (and it is!), with no backing at all. You can still see some signs of the creases and scuffs, but they are surely much less noticeable than they were prior to the restoration. The poster has a 1/2" tear in the right of the bottom border, which it likely acquired after it was restored, but it is not very noticeable at all, and could easily be mended.
