Werker family relationship biography financial banking historical melodrama ("He stood alone against millions!"; based on the novel 'The Rise of the House of Rothschild' by Count Egon Caesar Corti; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award; about the famous 19th century bank owned by Jewish brothers; naturally, the makers of the movie added an irrelevant romantic subplot to try to widen the appeal of the movie, and Boris Karloff makes a notable appearance as a very anti-Semitic villain) starring George Arliss (in a dual role as both Mayer Rothschild, the father, and Nathan Rothschild, his eldest son), Boris Karloff, Loretta Young, Robert Young, C.
