An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Bernard Shaw's Saint Joan, the 1957 Otto Preminger historical English/U.S. France biographical melodrama ("For the first time on the screen Otto Preminger presents Bernard Shaw's Saint Joan"; "Screenplay by Graham Greene"; based on the life of the famous French heroine Joan D'Arc, or Joan of Arc as she is also known; adapted from the play by George Bernard Shaw, with a screenplay by Graham Greene) starring Richard Widmark, Richard Todd, Anton Walbrook, John Gielgud, Jean Seberg (in the title role as St. Joan of Arc; in her very first movie role!), Felix Aylmer, Harry Andrews, Barry Jones Finlay Currie, Bernard Miles, Patrick Barr, Kenneth Haigh, Archie Duncan, Margot Grahame, Francis de Wolff, Victor Maddern, David Oxley, Sydney Bromley, and David Langton. Note that director Otto Preminger conducted a major search for the lead actress for this movie, and Jean Seberg was finally selected, and she was only 17 when she won, but was 18 when the movie was filmed! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Saul Bass Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster had an extra vertical foldline 2" to the right of the regular vertical foldline, and it had several areas of paper loss and tears scattered down the center of the poster between the two foldlines, and also along the top and bottom horizontal folds. There were some long tears in the top left of the poster. There were pinholes, creases, scuffs, and some surface paper loss and regular paper loss around the edges of the poster and many scuffs scattered throughout the poster. Overall, the poster was in fair condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed given its many defects, but there are a few scuffs and scattered tiny areas of surface paper loss that were either not addressed, or occurred after the poster was backed, and you can clearly see the above defects and the restoration of the above defects from close up, so please do not bid on this poster until you have carefully read the above and also looked closely at our super-sized image.
