Date Sold 11/17/2011Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. 2 Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Cards (LCs; measure 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Philo Vance Returns, the 1947 William Beaudine detective crime murder mystery thriller ("Lady-Killer Philo Vance solves the case of the killer lady!"; "Every cutie is a potential corpse"; "It's his biggest 'beauties and bullets' adventure!"; "Every time I get next to a blonde...a killer gets there first!") starring William Wright (in the title role as Philo Vance), Terry Austin, Leon Belasco, Clara Blandick, Ramsey Ames, Damian O'Flynn, Frank Wilcox, and Iris Adrian. Note that William Powell first played Philo Vance in 1929's "The Canary Murder Case" and after the character proved very popular, he followed it the next year with "The Greene Murder Case", after which Basil Rathbone took over the role that same year in "The Bishop Murder Case". After Powell played Vance again in "The Benson Murder Case" (which was also made in a Spanish language version with an entirely different case), he then played him one more time in "The Kennel Murder Case" in 1933, but the character also appeared in ten more movies between 1934 and 1947, with other actors in the lead roles. There are a few pin holes and 1/4" and smaller tears around the edges of the card that have been repaired with tape from the back. The cards are otherwise in pretty nice condition.
