What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster was never folded. It apparently originally had very wide left and right blank borders, and someone trimmed off approximately 2" from each side, so the borders would be pretty even. The poster had an 8" vertical tear in the top border that ran through Bara's hair and into her chest. It had tears in the lower left of the image and tears scattered around the edges, going into the top of the image and into the title area. Overall, the poster was in fair to good condition prior to linenbacking. Someone many years ago linenbacked the poster, and they did not leave any excess, and they did not restore the missing portions of the left and right blank borders. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects. Learn More about condition grades
