An Original Vintage Linenbacked French World War I Poster (measures 31 1/2" x 47" [80 x 119 cm]) (Learn More) Pour La France Versez Votre Or (literally translates to "For France Contribute Your Gold"), the 1915 French World War I (WWI) War Bonds poster (with a tagline that translates to "Gold fights for victory") encouraging people to purchase war bonds, and featuring Abel Faivre art of a rooster on a 20 franc gold coin attacking a terrified German soldier. Artist: Jules Abel Faivre Condition: fair. The poster was extremely fragile and had separation, small tears, and some paper loss on some foldlines and in the borders, where there was also some staining, as seen in our image. Overall, the poster was in fair condition prior to linenbacking. Someone simply mounted the poster on a very thin linen, likely to stop the deterioration, but did no restoration.
