A 1948 Realart Re-Release Theatrical Folded Insert Movie Poster (measures 14" x 36" [36 x 91 cm]) (Learn More) The Ghost of Frankenstein, the 1942 Erle C. Kenton Universal monster horror thriller sequel ("New Thrills as the monster stalks again!"; "Original Story, Eric Taylor"; the fourth Universal Frankenstein movie after the three 1930s classics; in this entry, Bela Lugosi as Ygor resurrects the Frankenstein monster and takes him to the doctor's son and they must find a new brain!) starring Cedric Hardwicke (billed as "Sir Cedric Hardwicke"; as Dr. Ludwig Frankenstein), Ralph Bellamy, Lionel Atwill (as Doctor Bohmer), Bela Lugosi (as Ygor), Evelyn Ankers (as Elsa Frankenstein), Lon Chaney Jr. (as the Frankenstein monster), Holmes Herbert, and Janet Ann Gallow NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that the posters for the 1948 Realart re-release of this 1942 Universal horror movie were created just six years after the original release. The re-release posters are likely just as rare as the originals, if not more so, likely because fewer theaters played the movie in 1948 than played it in 1942. The 1948 re-release posters have great different images that are not the same as those from the 1942 posters! Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube (although, because we don't feel it would hurt the poster to re-fold it, it could also be sent flat, if the buyer has flat purchases to combine it with and no rolled purchases). Condition: good. The poster has tiny bits of surface paper loss on the bottom horizontal fold. It has several extra partial light horizontal folds scattered throughout as though someone once rolled the poster and then handled it roughly. There are two of those partial extra folds that are at the monster's head, one more noticeable one going at a slight diagonal through his hair and forehead and the other less noticeable, going through his chin. There is slight darkening, tears, and a few stains around the edges, with a few smudges and scuffs scattered in the image. There is paper loss in the bottom right blank corner, with what looks like a small bit of white paint next to it. Someone put brown paper tape on the back of the extra creases, no doubt to reinforce the poster in those areas. In spite of the poster's many defects, it can absolutely be displayed and enjoyed as it is, but if I owned this great poster, I would surely have a talented restorer remove the tape from the back and properly paperback the poster, because after expert restoration, the poster will display wonderfully, and it likely will require little paint restoration anywhere in the image.
