An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Italian One-Panel (known in Italy as a "2 Fogli") Movie Poster (1p; measures 39" x 55" [99 x 140 cm]) (Learn More) Cyrano et d'Artagnan (literally translates to "Cyrano and D'Artagnan"), the 1964 Abel Gance French/Italian/Spanish swashbuckling adventure thriller (loosely based on the characters created by Alexandre Dumas AND Edmond Rostand) starring Jose Ferrer (in the title role as Cyrano de Bergerac), Jean-Pierre Cassel (in the title role as D'Artagnan), Sylva Koscina, Dahlia Lavi, Michel Simon, Rafael Rivelles (as Cardinal Richelieu), Laura Valenzuela (as Queen Anne), and Philippe Noiret (as King Louis XIII). Note that master French filmmaker Abel Gance wrote the story and the screenplay for this movie which imagines Cyrano de Bergerac meeting the leader of the Three Musketeers! He had the interesting idea of having Jose Ferrer recreate his Academy Award-winning performance from Cyrano de Bergerac, and he also cast three other American actors in lead roles, but because they did not speak French, this required their parts to be dubbed, which detracts from the movie, especially to those familiar with Jose Ferrer's true voice. As with other of Gance's movies, he attempted more than he was able to deliver, but this movie is still worth seeing! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Piero Ermanno Iaia & Studio Favalli Important Added Info: Note that this is a "country of origin" poster for this partially Italian movie! Condition: good to very good.
