During World War I (WWI), the paper was at the center of an intrigue involving the German government which was alleged to be attempting to gain influence in France and promote pacifist propaganda by buying French newspapers. Artist: E. Charles Lucas Important Added Info: Note that this poster is a circa 1970s reprint of the 1892 poster by Lucas (it is NOT the original poster of course). Condition: good to very good. The poster is printed to appear to be a vintage poster but those defects are within the printing. It has never been folded and has a few tears of varying lengths around the edges.
