Date Sold 5/10/2022Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Herald (measures 5 1/2" x 7 3/4" [14 x 20 cm]; 4 pages) (Learn More) Kreutzer Sonata, the 1915 Herbert Brenon silent Russia romantic love triangle family relationship sisters music murder melodrama ("Count Leo Tolstoi's drama"; based on the novella by Leo Tolstoy; about a Russian young woman who gets pregnant due to an affair, and her father finds a young man willing to marry her in exchange for money; the entire family moves to New York, and the woman's younger sister falls madly in love with her sister's husband, and when the sister finds out about it, she [spoiler alert] kills them both!) starring Nance O'Neil, Theda Bara (in her third movie, as the younger sister), Henry Bergman, William E. Shay, and Maude Turner Gordon. Note that this movie was released at the beginning of March 1915, right after the release of The Vampire, which was Theda Bara's second movie. She was originally second billed in this movie, but the only movie paper we have ever auctioned from it is a herald that is dated 8/28/15, from the continuous first release of this movie, and it is likely going to be the only movie paper we ever auction from it! Also note that this was a popular Tolstoy novel, and it was filmed many times over many years, but always under the original title, and there was not a Hollywood version of it in the 1920s or 1930s, which is surprising. Note that this is a "lost" film, which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that ANY movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have never auctioned any movie paper from this movie until we received this herald! Condition: good.
