Wellman Northern Africa French Foreign Legion military war family relationship melodrama ("Gary Cooper is back at his fighting best in the most thrilling film of the Foreign Legion"; "Based on the Novel by Percival Christopher Wren"; about three brothers who all end up in the French Foreign Legion, serving together in the exact same location in North Africa) starring Gary Cooper (in the title role as Michael 'Beau' Geste), Ray Milland, Robert Preston, Brian Donlevy (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film), Susan Hayward (in her second credited movie role!), J. Carrol Naish, Donald O'Connor, James Stephenson, Heather Thatcher, and G.P. Huntley NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this jumbo window card will need to be sent in a very large flat package that measures approximately 24" x 30" x 1" high, so please bear the shipping costs of this very large package in mind BEFORE you place a bid! Also note that this poster has been paperbacked. What is paperbacking? This means the poster was backed onto a paper backing (acid-free), that is similar in feel to that of the original poster (except somewhat heavier). It is a similar process to linenbacking, except that most collectors use linenbacking for one-sheets and paperbacking for half-sheets, inserts, window cards, and lobby cards. Condition: good to very good. There were several creases and tears in the image, most notably a 9" semi-circular tear that started near the middle of the left border, and went through the bottom of the word "GARY", and ends in the bottom of the "E" of "BEAU". There was a 20" vertical tear that started in the "S" of "GESTE" and extended down vertically through Cooper's eye and then diagonally across to the small hand above the "W" of "HAYWARD", and then vertically down to the center of the bottom border. There were a few other creases and tears in the image. A restorer paperbacked this card and did expert quality restoration to the above defects, which greatly minimized them. From any reasonable viewing distance, they are really not distracting at all, and are mostly only noticeable from close up. Learn More about condition grades
