If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this silk banner! Note that in the 1930s and 1940s, movie studios made silk burgees (also called silk banners) for most major releases. These were printed on a silk (or silk-like) material, sometimes with a gold fringe at the bottom, and usually with an opening at the top through which a wooden pole could be inserted, usually with a rope attached to both ends of the pole, so that the burgee could be hung from a nail at the theater. Few silk burgees are known to survive (we have only auctioned a few dozen of them in our many years of auctioning, and most of those came from a single great find), and many collectors are not even aware of their existence! Condition: good to very good. The gold finger at the bottom of the banner is present and in pretty nice condition, far better than most banners that survive from this time. If the banner was ever attached to a wooden rod, as is common, it is no longer present, and there are some tiny holes in the top, which surely attached it to something. There is some uneven discoloration in the red area. In spite of the defects, this incredibly rare banner can still be displayed and enjoyed (see our images). Learn More about condition grades
