An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card #6 (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More)

Frank Capra's It's a Wonderful Life, the classic 1946 Frank Capra (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) banking family fantasy romantic melodrama ("Wonderful! Wonderful! Wonderful! How could it be anything else!"; "They're going steady... straight to your heart!"; "It's a Wonderful Love!"; "Frank Capra's wonderfilm..."; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award; about a man at the brink of suicide, and an angel appears who shows him all the good that he did, by showing him how his world would have been if he had never been born, and that renews his faith) starring James Stewart (Jimmy Stewart; nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film; "America's Favorite Feller..."; as George Bailey), Donna Reed ("Jimmy's Favorite Girl..."; as Mary Bailey), Lionel Barrymore (as Mr. Potter), Thomas Mitchell (as Uncle Billy), Henry Travers (best remembered for playing Clarence the angel in this movie!), Beulah Bondi (as James Stewart's mom), Ward Bond (as Bert), Frank Faylen (as Ernie), Gloria Grahame (in a memorable role as Violet, the "bad" girl), H.B. Warner (as Mr. Gower), Carl 'Alfalfa' Switzer (as Freddie), Stanley Andrews, Sheldon Leonard (as Nick), William Edmunds, Jimmy Hawkins, Samuel S. Hinds, Frank Hagney, Karolyn Grimes, Virginia Patton, and Todd Karns

Important Added Info: Note that, in a great bonus for "Our Gang" fans, this card includes a large image of Carl 'Alfalfa' Switzer standing next to Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed at the dance (he had an uncredited role in the movie)!

Note that there are two slightly different original sets of cards for this movie (the only difference is that one set has a light green background and the other has a light blue background). Both have every bit of original RKO 1946 information they should have, and it is impossible to know if one set predates the other (my personal opinion is that, like with many other lobby cards at this time, the cards were printed in more than one location, and for some reason, some of the cards were printed with a different background color than the other). Every advanced collector I know considers cards from either type of set to be completely original cards, and there is no preference I am aware of for either type of set. If anyone knows more about this difference in color, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has.

Condition: good. There is a 1" diagonal crease in Reed's upper arm in the inset image, with diaognal scuff lines in Stewart's jacket and a faint brown stain in the upper center of Switzer's tuxedo. There is a pinhole in each top corner, a small tear in the top blank border, a diagonal crease in the lower left blank corner, and faint smudges scattered throughout the card. See our super-sized images to get a good sense of the exact condition of this card. Note that this lobby card is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back.
