An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded French "Affiche" Movie Poster (23x32; measures 23 3/4" x 31 1/2") (Learn More)

Le Jour se Leve (released in the U.S. as "Daybreak"), the classic 1939 Marcel Carne French romantic love triangle crime murder melodrama (perhaps the first French film noir, with a tragic anti-hero at its center, and the movie is said to have greatly influenced the 1940s U.S. film noirs, which in turn led to the 1950s and 1960s French New Wave; the movie opens with a man killing his romantic rival and then barricading himself in his room, and while he awaits certain death from the police, he reflects over the events that led him to this tragic ending) starring Jean Gabin, Jules Berry, Arletty, Mady Berry, R. Genin, A. Devere, Bergeron, Bernard Blier, Beres, Germaine Lix, Jacqueline Laurent, and Jacques Baumer. Note that the title of this movie more closely translates to "sunrise", but it could not be released in English with that title because of the classic Murnau movie of the same name, so it was released as "Daybreak" instead!

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that this is a rare "country of origin" poster for this French movie! Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube.

Condition: good. The poster is fragile and has some separation on parts of some foldlines and some tiny paper loss in parts of each foldline, including in the center of the vertical foldline in Gabin's forehead and nose.
