However, before he ever wrote a single story, he was a full time professional dentist and very successful amateur baseball player! Fortunately for the world, he took up writing as a hobby, which led to massive professional success. In addition to the commercial success of his printed works, his books have had second lives and continuing influence when adapted as films and television productions. His novels and short stories have been adapted into well over 100 films, TV series and made-for-TV movies. Some of his works include: Riders of the Purple Sage, Nevada, and Knights of the Range. He passed away in 1939 at the age of 67. Important Added Info: Note that this canceled check has been personally autographed (signed) by Zane Grey! It is from a wonderful collection of items that were assembled by a collector decades ago, mostly from RR Auctions, which has auctioned signed items since 1976. The person who purchased these items passed away several years ago, and while he did not save most of the certificates of authenticity he received when he bought these signed items, almost all were purchased between the late 1970s and the early 1990s, and we think it is extremely likely that the autograph on this item is genuine. As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased (although we prefer they do any "authenticating" while the auction is "live" and before they place a bid) and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction.
