An Original Vintage Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Wild Bill Hickock, the 1950s stock posters and lobby cards created by Newhall for use by theaters showing releases of western movies starring Guy Madison (in the title role) and Andy Devine ("as Jingles"). These movies were created by combining episodes of the "Adventures of Wild Bill Hickok" TV series. Theaters would order these posters and lobby cards which had a large blank area. Sometimes the studio would overprint the stock poster with the title of a specific movie, and sometimes they were sent a series of large paper snipes with the titles of specific entries of the series, so the theater could paste in each snipe as needed, thus getting many posters for the price of one. Sometimes stock posters are found with blank snipe areas. Most collectors consider them more valuable with a printed snipe attached, or with an overprinted snipe area. Important Added Info: Note that this lobby card was overprinted with the title and credits for Behind Southern Lines, the 1952 Thomas Carr Civil War cowboy western ("A Wild Bill Hickok Adventure") starring Guy Madison ("as 'Wild Bill Hickok'"), Andy Devine ("as 'Jingles'"), Rand Brooks, Murray Alper, Jonathan Hale, Orley Lindgren, Parke MacGregor, and Bill McKenzie. Note that this was an early re-packaging of TV episodes into a single feature (this became quite popular in the 1960s and 1970s). In this case, the source TV show was "Adventures of Wild Bill Hickok", and this movie was created by piecing together two of the episodes into a single feature. Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: very good.
