Remember hospital beds are at a premium. Defer a non-essential operation when your doctor asks you. 2. Save the nurse's time at the hospital by asking only for necessary service. 3. Do not employ a special nurse except for critical illness. Use your local visiting nurse association or hourly nursing service for illness at home. 4. Guard your own health. Don't take unnecessary risks. Do at least one of these: 5. Work in a hospital in any type of housekeeping duties. Become a U.S. Cadet Nurse if you are eligible. 7. Become a Red Cross Volunteer Nurse's Aide if there is a program in your community. If you are a trained aide, serve at least ten hours every week. 8. Learn how to take care of members of your own family. Take a Red Cross Home Nursing course. Help recruit a nurse: 9. Urge every nurse and retired nurse not eligible for military service to take an essential civilian nursing job. 10. Seek out every nurse classified as available for military service. Urge her to apply at once to the American Red Cross or wire collect the Surgeon General of the Army."; "Recruiting Agency for Army-Navy Nurse Corps") informing people on how they can help recruit or become nurses for military service. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster (like most World War II posters) were widely distributed through the mail (to military bases and other locations). They were machine folded, and a very few of them have printing on the back of the area that was on the outside when it was fully folded, giving instructions on how the poster was to be used and displayed (see our image of the back of the poster). We don't know if this printing would be on all examples of this poster, or only some of them. Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Note also that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Note that we were just consigned a wonderful collection of 59 war posters, most from World War II (which we are auctioning in 59 separate auctions)! Included in this collection are some posters we have never auctioned before, and some we have only auctioned once or twice before (sometimes only many years ago). This is a wonderful opportunity to obtain some or all of these historic posters, many of which have great images!). Condition: very good. There is some brown tape on the back of the poster (from when this poster was sealed for mailing - see above). It has light fold and border wear but is otherwise in pretty nice condition!
