Date Sold 12/8/2020 Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. a lot of 3 issues of Broadway and Hollywood Movies, one of the many movie magazines sold to the public. This magazine tried to separate itself from the "regular" movie fan magazines by adding in coverage of Broadway shows and events (the magazine also had some "racier" content, including sexier images of stars and even a page or two of racy cartoons!). Each issue features a great full color cover of a leading star of the day, plus lots of interior publicity stories about current stars and movies with many black and white images throughout. Also, in every issue are many wonderful vintage ads, in black and white, and sometimes the ads can be just as much fun as the original stories and pictures. Of course, some of the ads are from movies that were about to open, and in the early days of eBay, people would remove those full-page ads and auction them by themselves, and they would often sell for $10, $20, or more, just for a single movie ad removed from a magazine just like this! At some point in the early 1930s, the magazine changed its title to simply "Movies", and became a more conventional movie magazine (to further complicate things, a new magazine called "Modern Movies" started in 1939, and it changed its name to simply "Movies" in 1940, but the two magazines appear to have been unrelated). Note that this magazine is extremely similar to "Romances of Hollywood Movies". Clearly they were either published by the same people, or one of the magazines changed into the other.
