BOB HOPE (comedian) BOB HOPE (comedian) program book, souvenir OR search current auctions Auction History Result 3z142BOB HOPE signed program book '80 The World of Bob Hope published by NBC, great images & info! Date Sold 8/7/2011Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Autographed Original Vintage Program Book (measures 9" x 12" [23 x 30 cm]) (Learn More) Bob Hope (born Leslie Townes Hope) was an English-born top Hollywood comedian and actor from the 1930s to the 1990s. He was briefly a boxer in his youth (as Packy East), and that is where he acquired his distinctive ski-shaped nose. Some of his movies include: Story of G.I. Joe, The Cat and the Canary, The Ghost Breakers, My Favorite Blonde, and the "Road" movies he made with Bing Crosby and Dorothy Lamour, including Road to Morocco. In spite of his great success, Hope never won an Oscar, although he hosted several of the Oscar telecasts! Hope was also well known outside of movies, especially for his entertaining of U.S. troops overseas, for his charity golf tournament, and his many hostings of the Oscar ceremonies. He passed away in 2003 at the age of 100. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this item has been personally autographed (signed) by Bob Hope! Note that this item was consigned to us by a man who purchased the collection of a dedicated collector, who was a major film buff from the 1950s through the 1990s. He would purchase stills on stars he liked, and then he would go to events or collectibles shows (he went to virtually every collectibles show where stars appeared!), and he would get the items autographed, and many of his photos were personalized to him with nice inscriptions, because over time many of the celebrities who regularly attended shows came to be friends with him! Over many years he was able to acquire a large number of signed stills, and his collection was purchased by our consignor. In this set of auctions we are auctioning the last of his autographed items (and we auctioned others in past "all signed" auctions). We feel certain that the autographs on these items are authentic! Note that each of the items from this consignor all have this paragraph on them. Condition: very good. There is darkening on the inside of the back cover and lesser darkening on the last interior page (some loose papers were kept between the two pages at one time), but otherwise, the program book is in nice condition!
