An Unfolded 1973 English Commercial Poster (made to be sold directly to the public; measures 23 1/4" x 34 3/4" [59 x 88 cm]) (Learn More) Spider-Man is a comic book superhero created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko in 1962 for Marvel Comics. Stan Lee thought of the name, told Jack Kirby to draw a story with that character, and then Lee didn't like it and asked Steve Ditko to do it instead. Ditko's version is drastically different from Kirby's, and it appears that most of Stan Lee's contribution to the creation was the name, and this is one of the most highly contested subjects in the comic book hobby! In the original comic series ("The Amazing Spider-Man"), Spider-Man is the alias of Peter Parker, an orphan raised by his Aunt May and Uncle Ben in New York City. His origin story has him acquiring spider-related abilities after a bite from a radioactive spider. Marvel has also published books featuring alternate versions of Spider-Man, including Miles Morales, who takes up the mantle of Spider-Man after Peter Parker's supposed death. The Spider-Man character has appeared in various television shows, books and multiple successful movies. Artist: Keith Robson Condition: fair to good.
