An Original Vintage Unfolded French Poster (measures 38 3/4" x 59" [98 x 150 cm]) (Learn More)

Josephine at Bobino, the 1975 French musical revue stage performance starring Josephine Baker which was held at the Bobino music hall theatre in Paris, France. This poster features a Guy Ventouillac photo of Baker in a sexy outfit. Note that the revue was financed by Prince Rainier, Princess Grace and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, and it opened to rave reviews. The opening-night audience included Sophia Loren, Mick Jagger, Shirley Bassey, Diana Ross and Liza Minnelli. However, that was Josephine Baker's final stage performance as she tragically died four days after opening night of a cerebral hemorrhage.

Important Added Info: Note that we have previously auctioned three different examples of this poster, but this particular poster is different than those. Those posers measured approximately 31" x 46", had an artist credit and printing information at lower right and some writing at right, but tax stamp poster measures 39" x 59" and does not have that information (but this poster has also been trimmed around the edges). We are not 100% certain that it is for a stage play, but if anyone knows more about this poster, please e-mail us and we will post it here.

Condition: good. The poster was printed on a paper that tends to crease easily and it has creases scattered throughout (see our image). After linenbacking it should display well but see our super-sized image to get a good sense of the condition of this item prior to placing a bid.
