Gary B. Bettman is the commissioner of the National Hockey League (NHL) from 1993 to the present. He was also a senior vice president and general counsel to the National Basketball Association (NBA). In 2016 he was inducted as a member of the International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame.

Our consignor is a longtime dealer who purchased this publicity still and a number of others from a man named David, who was in the military and told our consignor that he obtained these in person (and several of them are personalized to him). Our consignor does not have a certificate of authenticity, but we believe the signatures from this collection are likely authentic.

Also note that many celebrities kept multiple 8" x 10" (or smaller) copies of good publicity images of themselves to sign for fans, and also many memorabilia shops sold such copy stills themselves. While they are not original theater-used stills, they are usually excellent clear copies, with a great shot of that celebrity in their heyday, which, when signed by the celebrity, makes for a wonderful framed picture on any fan's wall!

On non-signed items, we give a "lifetime guarantee" on everything we auction, but on signed items, we give the above modified guarantee of 30 days after the auction closes.
