An Original Vintage Theatrical Insert Movie Poster (measures 14" x 36" [36 x 91 cm]) (Learn More) The Big Parade, the classic 1925 King Vidor silent romantic World War I (WWI) American-soldiers-in-France military melodrama ("It's here! The film that you'll call the best you ever saw"; "Story by Laurence Stallings"; "King Vidor's production of Lawrence Stallings' great motion picture story following his stage success with 'What Price Glory'"; about an all-American boy who enlists in the Army in World War I, and he and his friends have a great time until they are thrust into combat, and the movie shows the horrors of war in a way that had not been done before, and the boy returns home after losing a leg; there is also a romantic subplot with the American G.I. having a brief affair with a beautiful French girl) starring John Gilbert ("The Star"), Renee Adoree ("as Melisande"), Hobart Bosworth, Claire McDowell, Claire Adams, Robert Ober, Tom O'Brien, Karl Dane, and Rosita Martini. Note that MGM had no idea what they had when this movie was being made, but King Vidor was able to sell them on the potential of the movie, and convince them to spend a huge amount of money filming authentic battle scenes, and the movie was a major critical and financial success! Important Added Info: Note that we have previously auctioned one each of most size posters for this classic World War I movie, but we have NEVER before auctioned this insert! A talented restorer gel backed the poster (meaning they backed the poster onto a gel material) and they then performed excellent restoration to the defects described below, and then removed the gel backing, so that the poster still exactly looks and feels like an original poster (and it is!), with no backing at all. The restoration was done really well, and the poster displays really well! Condition: very good. The poster was gel backed (see above). This particular poster was never folded. It had paper loss scattered in the top border, very slightly extending into the yellow background at top left, with some pinholes in the yellow background area. There were some small areas of paper loss scattered down the right edge of the right blank border. The poster had just a few smudges and scuffs scattered in the image. It was in "good to very good" condition prior to restoration. It was gel backed by a talented professional and expert restoration was performed to the above defects. The poster displays great, and best of all, it still completely looks and feels like an unrestored poster! Learn More about condition grades
