Date Sold 5/1/2018Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Murder on a Honeymoon, the 1935 Lloyd Corrigan detective mystery comedy sequel ("It took a woman to find the woman in this sizzling crime!"; "Shiver and shake while you giggle and quake!"; "The famous detectress of 'Penguin Pool' and 'Murder on the Blackboard'... In a mystery crime drama that will give you giggling Thrills!"; "The famous Miss Withers and Detective Piper are here again in a crime drama funnier than a 'Penguin Pool' and 'Murder on the Blackboard!'") starring Edna May Oliver (as Hildegarde Withers), James Gleason (as Inspector Oscar Piper), Lola Lane, George Meeker, and Dorothy Libaire. Note that this was one of a series of six very popular detective comedies starring a female detective named Hildegarde Withers, who assists a police detective named Oscar Piper. The first movie in the series was "Penguin Pool Murder" in 1932, and Edna May Oliver played her in the first three movies, and then Helen Broderick played her in one, and Zasu Pitts in the final two. James Gleason played Detective Piper in all six movies. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that first release 1935 movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have only auctioned a single lobby card from this movie five years ago, and no other movie paper before or after. We have now been re-consigned this same lobby card we sold five years ago, so it is still the only lobby card we have auctioned! Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: very good. The card had tiny paper loss in each blank corner and two tiny tears near the center of the top blank border. Someone gave this card to a restorer, who replaced the missing paper from each corner and glued one of the tiny tears, and left the other alone, likely because it is so tiny. The card was NOT backed, and has only had the slight exact restoration described above. It was in nice condition prior to this slight restoration, and it will display great on the new owner's wall.
