An Original Vintage Theatrical Paperbacked Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 14" x 22") (Learn More) the circa 1930s stock poster ("The screen's daredevil cowboy in a thrilling, breath-taking all talking western") created by Columbia pictures for use by theaters showing their very early 1930s Buck Jones movies. We have seen four different U.S. window cards, all with very different images, and all are from Columbia Pictures, with these taglines: "The Screen's Greatest Outdoor Star!"; "Buck Jones in a Whirlwind, Alll Dialog Western"; "Thrilling, Breath-taking ALL TALKING WESTERN"; "The Screen's Daredevil Cowboy", and also an Argentinean poster with yet another completely different image, and there may well have been other similar posters of other sizes or from other countries. Theaters would order this poster, which had a large blank area at top or bottom. Sometimes the studio would overprint the stock poster with the title of a specific movie, and sometimes they were sent a series of large paper snipes with the titles of specific entries of the series, so the theater could paste in each snipe as needed, thus getting many posters for the price of one. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster has been paperbacked. What is paperbacking? This means the poster was backed onto a light paper backing (acid-free), that is similar in feel to that of the original poster (it means that the poster must be handled carefully, as the backing does not give it much added strength, but it is similar to having an unrestored poster, and yet it has been properly preserved). It is a similar process to linenbacking, except that most collectors use linenbacking for one-sheets and paperbacking for half-sheets, inserts, window cards. Condition: fair. The window card had a huge number of surface defects, including many down the right 5" of the card, including in Jones' face, and there were also significant defects scattered in the rest of the card. Someone did much paint restoration throughout the image, and the card displays fairly well, but you can clearly tell that it has had much restoration. Please do not bid on this poster unless you can accept its defects described above. Learn More about condition grades
