An Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10 1/4" [20 x 26 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) The Secret Call, the 1931 Stuart Walker hotel switchboard operator romantic melodrama starring Richard Arlen, Peggy Shannon, William B. Davidson, Charles Trowbridge, Ned Sparks, and Jane Keithley. Note that this movie had been set to star Clara Bow, but just before filming was to start, she had a nervous breakdown, and a desperate Paramount turned to stage actress Peggy Shannon, who had been just signed to a contract. She started filming this just five days after she arrived in Hollywood, and she apparently did a good job and was well received, but unfortunately did not have a major success in Hollywood, making a few dozen movies in the 1930s, few of them memorable ones.
