Betrayal, the 1929 Lewis Milestone romantic love triangle infidelity melodrama ("From a story by Victor Schertzinger and Nicholas Soussanin"; about a pretty young Swiss woman who is seduced by a bohemian artist, who then leaves her, and her father gets her married to the mayor of the town; she has an on-again-off-again affair with the artist, and she has two sons, and either might be the result of her infidelity, and when the mother is killed, and the artist fatally wounded, the mayor asks the artist which of his sons is really his, and the artist, being especially cruel, tells him the wrong son, and the mayor hates that son, even though he is really his) starring Emil Jannings, Esther Ralston, Gary Cooper, Jada Weller, and Douglas Haig. Note that the bohemian artist is played by third billed Gary Cooper in one of his earlier roles before he rose to major stardom! Also, note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
