Date Sold 12/2/2008Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 28" x 42") (Learn More) How Motion Pictures Are Made, the 1914 Mack Sennett silent documentary short ("In One Part"; "Companies Making Up"; a mutual movie from Keystone Pictures). Apparently, Mack Sennett recognized that the public had a tremendous interest in learning exactly how the movies they flocked to see were made, and this movie took the viewer "behind the scenes", and the one-sheet for the movie shows a great stone litho image of men and women at separate rows of make up mirrors! Note that the IMDb says this movie was released in January of 1914, but the one-sheet is clearly dated 1913 (it was not uncommon for posters to be dated the year prior to a movie's release, especially if that release occurred in the beginning of the year). If anyone knows more about this movie, please e-mail us and we will post it here. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: very good. The poster had a triangular area of paper loss at the bottom crossfold, approximately 3" x 2", affecting the bottom of the last three make up mirrors. There was some minor wear on the foldlines, with a few small tears, and some tears and small areas of paper loss around the edges of the poster. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking (especially considering that it is 94 years old!). The poster was quite nicely backed, and displays well! IMPORTANT: Note that the poster was printed slightly off-register, with some of the colors slightly off-center from the others (this is most noticeable in the two artwork images, and in the Keystone logos at the bottom. It is quite likely that this printing error would have occurred on all examples of this poster, but of course, we have never seen another example of this poster (and doubt one exists!), so we can't say for certain. BUT PLEASE DO NOT BID ON THIS RARE AND HISTORICAL POSTER UNLESS YOU CAN ACCEPT THIS PRINTING DEFECT! Learn More about condition grades
