An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) The Purple V, the 1943 George Sherman World War II (WWII) military behind-enemy-lines airplane aviation fighter pilot romantic melodrama ("Adaptation by Bertram Millhouser of a magazine story by Robert R. Mill"; "Brand of vengeance burned deep in the souls of freedom-loving men everywhere!"; about an American flier who is shot down over Germany, but is helped by an anti-Nazi schoolteacher to make it back to the Allies with what he has learned) starring John Archer, Mary McLeod, Fritz Kortner, Rex Williams, Kurt Katch, Walter Sande, and Peter Lawford. Note that there is a Hollywood legend that a producer saw Peter Lawford in this movie, and signed him to a studio contract on his looks alone, but actually, Lawford had already appeared in American movies, as far back as 1938! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: very good. The poster had a few tiny creases and scuffs on parts of some foldlines and some pinholes around the edges. There were some creases in the top right corner. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well! Note that the restorer left a tiny bit of excess linen around all four sides of the poster (they left a small border in order to protect the poster from handling damage, but they did not leave a larger border to allow it to more easily fit in a frame) Learn More about condition grades
