An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 14" x 22" [36 x 56 cm]) (Learn More) Aloha, the 1931 Albert S. Rogell South Seas tropical island interracial romantic melodrama ("A spectacular love epic"; "She Shocked Them - They Mocked Her - This wild tropical beauty who wore a grass skirt to her wedding, but couldn't accustom herself to the silks, velvets and garters - to the do's and don'ts - of her husband's world"; a wild story of the kind they don't make anymore!; about a rich young heir to a coconut plantation who lives on a South Sea island, and he falls in love with a local girl after she does the "Dance of Love", but after they are married and he takes her back to San Francisco, people look down on her because she is "not white", and he defies his father and takes her back to the island, but they have to live in poverty, and they have a son, and they have misunderstandings, and he orders her to stay away from their son, and she goes to a volcano and says she will join her ancestors, and he rushes to rescue her, but gets there just as she jumps in the volcano!) starring Ben Lyon, Raquel Torres, Robert Edeson, Alan Hale Sr., and Thelma Todd. Note that this movie has massive similarity to King Vidor's "Bird of Paradise", made the following year. We don't know if one movie inspired the other, or if there was any controversy at this time over the similarity of the two movies. If anyone knows more about this movie, please e-mail us and we will post it here. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this window card! Also note that this window card was never folded. Often window cards would be folded across the middle, because that would make them 11" x 14", and they could then be sent with standard folded posters. Most collectors put an added value on a window card that has never been folded. Condition: fair. The card has paper loss in Lyon's forehead and in the bottom center of the card, with some in the corners. There is also much light staining in the bottom half of the card, with some stains in the rest of the card, and two semi-circular tears in Lyon's forehead and hair. This window card is an excellent candidate for restoration, because it is likely some or many of the stains can be removed through chemical means, and after proper restoration, this extremely rare window card will display well, but please bear in mind its many substantial defects before bidding on it.
