An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Campaign Book (measures 12 3/4" x 12 3/4" [32 x 32 cm]; 98 pages) (Learn More)

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer's Parade of Hits, the 1926 MGM campaign book featuring images and information about upcoming MGM movie releases for the 1926-27 season, including films with stars such as Ramon Novarro, Buster Keaton, Lon Chaney Sr., Lillian Gish and many, many more. What makes this book really special is that it has pages with a printed border that have a beautiful tipped-in 8" x 10" color and black & white image of the stars (with their names printed underneath), and there are also full-page artwork ads for the upcoming films (they had done the same thing the year before in the 1925-26 book, and apparently, they got a good response, so they did it again, and this time the art was better than the year before, because they are full-color artwork ads, where the year before, they were mostly line drawings, and many are extremely striking!). Note that even though this campaign book was sent to many theater owners, it appears that very few examples have survived. I have been a collector of campaign books and related material for many years, and I know for certain that this campaign book is extremely rare! Finally, note that campaign books in general are extremely rare, and the best of them have often sold for hundreds of dollars, and in the case of the very finest, thousands of dollars!

Important Added Info: Note that because we have never before auctioned this great book (one of the few MGM ones we have not!), we can't say for certain if it is supposed to have 98 pages, as this one does (see below for an update). There is half of one page near the end that was cut out, and facing that is a loose page, which became separated from the binding, but we just don't know if there could have been more pages. So please do not bid on this book unless you can accept the uncertainty as to whether it is complete. Note: We have 12 images of the campaign books in this set, but due to a space limitation, only ELEVEN of the 12 images are displayed above. However, there is a "supersize" link to the right of those images that lets you see the other 1.

UPDATED 12/18/2016: Note that we added an image of the ad for the 1926 film "Faust" directed by F.W. Murnau and starring Emil Jannings & Gosta Ekman. Also, a collector contacted us to say that his copy of this campaign book has 105 pages, so 7 pages may be missing from the version offered here but we can't be certain.

Condition: fair. Half of one page near the end is missing (it was solely text on both sides) and the page facing it is separated from the binding (see above). There is much wear on the covers and on the spine. Otherwise, the book appears complete and is in pretty good condition. Please see our many images to get a sense of the exact condition of this book.
