A 1950 Re-Release Theatrical Folded German "A1" Movie Poster (measures 23" x 33" [58 x 84 cm]) (Learn More) Camille, the 1937 George Cukor romantic love triangle melodrama ("Greta Garbo loves Robert Taylor in Camille"; set in France and based on the play and novel 'La Dame aux Camelias' by Alexandre Dumas Fils; about the French son of a noble family who is a law student and he falls for a beautiful prostitute; she reforms for him and they live in poverty, but the young man's father feels disgraced, and he convinces the woman to give up his son, and she returns to her former life, and he, not knowing what his father did, meets her publicly and denounces her, but she does not enlighten him, and at the climax, she dies holding a gift he gave her) starring Greta Garbo (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film; in the title role as Marguerite 'Camille' Gautier), Robert Taylor, Lionel Barrymore, Elizabeth Allan, Jessie Ralph, Henry Daniell, Lenore Ulric, Laura Hope Crews, and Rex O'Malley. Artist: Rolf Goetze Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare poster. We have only auctioned one in all our years of auctioning and that was in 2010! Condition: good to very good. The poster has several pinholes around the edges (some are torn or enlarged due to rough removal) and some small paper loss at center left and in three corners (see our image). MANY of those defects are backed by conservation tape. It has some wear in the center of the right half of the upper horizontal fold that someone lightly touched up with marker. After proper restoration the poster will display well, but bear in mind these defects (especially the small amount of marker restoration noted above) before placing a bid.
