Date Sold 6/21/2016Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Unfolded Political Campaign Poster (measures 15" x 20" [38 x 51 cm]) (Learn More) Dwight D. Eisenhower (nicknamed "Ike") was a U.S. Army officer and politician from the 1910s to the 1960s. He was a five-star general during World War II, served as Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces in Europe and became the first Supreme Commander of NATO. He was elected to the presidency of the United States from 1953 to 1961. As President, he ended the Korean War and presided over eight years of relative peace and economic growth, during which no inflation occurred and the debt kept to a minimum. He is also responsible for the Interstate Highway System opposed Joseph McCarthy, and also signed the Civil Rights Act of 1957. Eisenhower passed away in 1969 at the age of 78. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster is printed on a heavy window card-like stock, and it is guaranteed authentic from when the poster was first created in 1952 (it is not dated, but it is from 1952, when Eisenhower first ran for President). Also note that this is one of a remarkable group of 13 guaranteed authentic 1940s to 1970s political posters (with a couple of war posters included as well) that we were just consigned! They were acquired by an archive right when they were created, and they have been in storage ever since, until now. These are the sorts of posters that you can find reproductions of on the Internet, but finding guaranteed originals like these is incredibly difficult (years can go by before these are offered for sale or at auction). This is a very rare opportunity to purchase any of these 15 posters! Condition: good. There is paper loss in the top left corner, with some creases and small tears below it. There are creases and scuffs scattered through the poster and around the edges, but fortunately none in Eisenhower's face. The poster can certainly be displayed as it is, or any talented restorer could perform the needed restoration to make it look even more wonderful. Learn More about condition grades
