Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" Movie Still (Learn More) Dracula, the classic 1931 Tod Browning Universal vampire monster horror thriller ("The Greatest of all Horror Thrillers"; "The Vampire Thriller!"; "The story of the strangest passion the world has ever known!"; "Do vampires really exist?"; "From the famous novel & play by Bram Stoker") starring Bela Lugosi (in the title role as Count Dracula), David Manners, Helen Chandler, Dwight Frye (if there had been a Best Supporting Actor Academy Award in 1931, Frye would have surely won it for his wild over-the-top portrayal as Renfield!), Edward Van Sloan (as Professor Abraham Van Helsing), Frances Dade, and Herbert Bunston NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this still has three stamps on the back. One is a circular stamp that says, "From the collection of Carlos Clarens". One says, "Robert Scherl", and the last one says, "From the Borst Collection". I don't know who Carlos Clarens was, but Robert Scherl and Ron Borst are two of the most legendary collectors of horror material ever (Bob Scherl passed away several years ago, and was a good friend of mine). I don't know if people who collect stills care about "pedigree", but if so, this still has a wonderful one! Also note that the still has a penciled price on the back that reads, "400-". I believe that price was put on the still many years ago. There has never been a time that original Dracula stills were easily obtainable (except I guess in 1931), and the above price certainly attests to that! Condition: very good. There is a 1" crease in the background 1" to the left of Lugosi's head. There are light creases and scuffs in the background at the top of the still, but they are only noticeable when the still is turned to the light. Straight on, the still looks great. I can't imagine a collector who would not be happy owning this great still! Learn More about condition grades
